2021 Awareness Drive – Returning Home to a Surprise

We have been home since Saturday. I’m not a writer so it’s harder for my creative mind to write on the spot while we are traveling. When we got home, we were surprised to hear that our AS Awareness has made it to our local newspaper.

Traci Chapman has been our friend for more than 6 years. Before we found our diagnosis in 2015, Matthew was selected as the Ambassador for March of Dimes that year, and she featured our walk in the “Mustang Times”.

Traci and her son Travis (An amazing young man, just like his mother)

You see, what makes Traci such an inspiration wasn’t because of her great writing skills, but the kind of heart she puts into the writing. She has featured our AS Awareness in the newspaper many times, she has covered our story when the Mayor proclaimed every Feb 15 as Int’l AS day in our city, and each time she advocates for the family, she is doing the awareness without us knowing. We will learn about it when someone points out our story in the paper. She became our media advocate!! Due to the fact that we were touched and so inspired of her advocacy, the AS Awareness was born 4 years after she started the idea.

Traci, thank you for always being in our corner. Your advocacy has been a pivotal force in our AS journey. We thank God for bringing you in our lives. The latest article you wrote is a fitting story to wrap our 2021 #ASAwareness journey.

To ALL OF YOU who were patient enough to read our post, for following our story and for all the comments … our family are very appreciative of all your support.
